We’re very pleased to announce that we have been longlisted in the ASBP Awards 2022 – one of 26 entries from throughout the UK.
The Alliance of Sustainable Building Products Awards recognise exemplary sustainable building projects, innovative products and forward thinking projects.
Our design of the first Passivhaus social housing development in Powys at Sarn, near Newtown, has been longlisted.
In September the same project led to us being shortlisted in the Wales Property Awards 2021. The development was also a finalist in the 2021 Building Awards for the work contractors Pave Aways Construction undertook on the project. We were also finalists in October’s Powys Business Awards 2021.
The 2022 ASBP Awards are the biggest yet, with entries welcomed across three categories including exemplary sustainable building projects, innovative products and forward-thinking initiatives.
“Due to the number and quality of submissions received this year our judges found the assessment process incredibly inspiring but equally challenging. As such, it was extraordinarily difficult to decide on the longlists,” said an ASBP statement.
Doug Hughes, Principal Architect and Managing Director at Hughes Architects, said: “This is yet more recognition of our team’s great architectural design work. We’re very proud to have been longlisted in the ASBP Awards which are recognised as one of the UK’s most prestigious when it comes to sustainable buildings.
“Sarn is a particularly special project for us as it was the first Passivhaus standard design for an affordable housing project by Powys County Council. We place sustainability and a determination to move towards carbon-neutral properties as central to our architectural and building design work.
“We wish all the longlist finalists well. Together, we are showing how sustainable products can be used in the development of residential and commercial properties, helping reduce carbon emissions and moving to a carbon-neutral built environment.”
