Richard Lewis

Architect and Director

I was born and brought up in Newtown, Powys and attended Newtown High School, before studying for an architecture degree at De Montfort University in Leicester.

After completing this I studied under the influential American architect Stanley Tigerman in Chicago at his Archeworks design school, completing my diploma and professional training at Westminster University in London.

Prior to joining Hughes Architects, I worked for in Rotterdam in the Netherlands where I gained experience working on experimental structures, a housing competition in the US and a showroom for a luxury car dealership.

Following which I moved back to the UK and worked for Crawford Partnership in London, working mainly on residential projects from high-end domestic extensions and conversions to large-scale housing schemes.

In my spare time, I am a keen footballer and follower of the ups and downs of Newtown AFC. When I have the opportunity, I try to spend as much time outdoors in the mountains as possible. The rest of my time is spent trying to explore the far-off corners of Eastern Europe.

Our team is carefully selected to bring together the essential experience and key skills necessary to deliver a successful architectural or planning project over time. And we collaborate tirelessly to ensure you experience a high-quality friendly service at all times.
