We inherited this project in the Brecon Beacons National Park from another architectural practice who were having problems designing a scheme of 6 houses on a former school site in this lovely village. We spent some time getting to know the area and sat down with the community and the planners and asked them what they could see working on this Brownfield site. Obviously the community was very unhappy that the school had closed but they fully supported us, so much so they suggested 7 family houses would work here. It goes without saying that our client was very pleased with this outcome too.
The happy ending to this project was an award winning scheme that was oversubscribed by local people who wanted to live there. We partnered with the main contractor in delivering this £1.25m project in just under a year which was a real challenge given we were building throughout a wild Brecon Beacons winter.
