Motocross Experience Centre creating 13 jobs given green light
Hughes Architects has welcomed the decision by a Welsh Government appointed Planning Inspector to grant planning permission for a Motocross Experience Centre at Rhydblawd Farm, near Builth Wells.
The architectural and planning practice has been involved in the project since its beginning more than seven years ago.
The development by Nightfly Limited will include a Motocross Experience Centre, seven holiday log cabins, new infrastructure and a range of biodiversity improvements. It is expected to bring £1.5 million of investment, create up to 13 jobs and attract new visitors to the area.
Doug Hughes, Managing Director and Principal Architect at Hughes Architects, said: "This decision comes after years of detailed design work, planning expertise and determination from our team. From the outset we have worked closely with the client and a group of specialists to put forward a project that delivers tourism and economic growth while showing real environmental responsibility.
“The Inspector’s decision confirms what we have long believed, that this is a well designed and policy compliant scheme that will benefit Powys for years to come."
Hughes Architects, with offices based in Powys, has led the work on addressing complex planning challenges faced by the project, including environmental, landscape and community considerations.
Doug added: "Our knowledge of local planning and our ability to balance development needs with community and environmental concerns has been central to achieving this outcome. We are proud to have played a key role in gaining approval for what will be the first Motocross Experience Centre in the UK to focus on electric bikes, offering a cleaner and quieter future for the sport."
The Planning Inspector also ordered a partial award of costs against Powys County Council, criticising the way the applications and appeals were handled.
Hughes Architects will continue to support Nightfly Limited as the project moves forward to the delivery stage.
