Home Projects Old Market Hall

Work has started on repairing one of Wales’ oldest timber-framed market halls – and we’re proud at Hughes Architects to be involved in this significant Conservation Architecture project.

Llanidloes Old Market Hall is a Grade I listed building situated in the centre of the north Powys market town in Mid Wales. It’s surrounded by roads and busy traffic and has been in need of some attention for some time.

We were appointed by Powys County Council, who are responsible for the historically and architecturally important 16th century structure. A range of of work is being undertaken internally and externally, including ceilings, wooden beams and external remediation to bring much needed repairs and support, and to ensure the safeguarding of this significant building for generations to come.
