Helping businesses to grow

We often hear about businesses growing and expanding. A lot of the time this includes the need to extend existing premises or to expand into new facilities tailored to their needs.

We’ve worked with a range of companies to help fulfil their accommodation needs. Whether a manufacturer needing an extension to expand operations, a vineyard needing a besoke, temperature controlled storage area, or a high-tech electronics company needing a new business unit to base its international operations in.

One example is Dynacast in Welshpool, Powys – a global engineering business specialising in precision engineering, die casting and metal injection moulding.

It appointed us to design a new facility that allowed it to expand its production. We designed and successfully applied for planning permission for a new 530m2 facility alongside its existing headquarters and production site at the Offa’s Dyke Business Park near Welshpool, Powys.

Dynacast works with customers throughout the world turning ideas into high quality precision engineered components. It has facilities throughout the US, Europe and Asia.

“Dynacast UK came to us with a brief to create a modern facility that would allow the business a flexible approach to its expanding operations,” said Richard Lewis, an architect at Hughes Architects which has offices at Newtown, Welshpool and Aberystwyth.

“From design to planning and then build, we’ve worked closely with the management team and building contractors Walton Build, based at Leighton, to ensure they have a facility that is more than ideal for their current and future needs.”

Mike Brettell, Managing Director of Dynacast, said it had been important to be be able to work with architects who understood and could manage the whole process coupled with a building contractor who could deliver on time and to the highest quality and budget.

“We’re undergoing growth globally and we needed more production space at our Welshpool headquarters. Working with Hughes Architects we ensured the process from design through to planning and final build was dealt with efficiently and with as few problems as possible.”

He added: “That’s exactly what we got and we’re very pleased with the final result which we’re currently expanding production into.”
